HAFLINGERS IN ACTION 20072007 Started off slow for the Spring Mead gang because of covering, markings and we had 3 new arrivals all during April! However Ginny managed to get to an Easter Show with William and came 5th over a 2ft-2ft 3” course which was the 1st class of the year and her biggest to date as at the time she was still only 4. Sadly just after the show she went lame, we believe she tweaked a muscle so we visited the Vet, saw the Chiropractor and gave her some rest. She is now sound and back in light work which is a relief to all of us and our pockets!! Unfortunately there are no pictures of that day but we do have some of our next event. William and I did a one day event, a first for both of us! William did a good Dressage Test and went clear in the Show Jumping but had 2 refusals one at the barrels and then a log as you came out of the sunken road but nevertheless he and Noelle came 8th out of 25 which was great. Elle and I didn’t have a great start with the Dressage as she is a speed demon and I have very little breaks in the snaffle bit! We got there eventually but I was worn out trying to make us look like we are in CONTROL! She also went clear in the Show Jumping and had 2 refusals around the XC course, one at the sunken road and then the log straight after. She went round the XC really well considering we had a bad experience at the beginning of the year round Firle which was an extremely large 2ft 3” which over faced her. She refused everything 1st time but did it on the 2nd attempt and got stuck over the steeple chaser, oh the shame! I really thought they were going to have to dismantle the jump, however she got herself out to my relief! Elle once again did really well at her 1st one day event and came 7th out of 30! The day was slightly marred by the following event, we were un -tacking Noelle, I reached down to undo her hind brushing boot and I scared the life out of her and she gave me a double barrel in my left shin. Ouch! Totally not her fault my own stupidity and complacency but I ended up with a hole in my leg which was extremely painful to say the least and I still bear the scar. Luckily the car is an automatic so we could still get home!
