Springmead Haflinger Stud

Next up was Welly’s 1st XC competition. Slightly ambitious at 2ft 6 but it was a lovely course and I had planned to take Noelle and Elle to an Eventers Challenge the next weekend which was later cancelled once again due to Foot and Mouth. It’s a bit of a juggling act when you have a few horses to take out and about, deciding what would benefit each horse the most. It was a big local show with loud speakers, ‘oh my God’ he thought they were scary to start with. There were 80 horses in my class so warming up was immense fun! Welly is unsure of horses galloping around him and there were what seemed like thousands of children thundering around on their ponies that have been there and done it time and time again. After half an hour he chilled out and we went round okay, we had a few refusals mainly because he was spooking at the 3 ft 3 course jumps that looked like monsters! We don’t like water at the moment puddles are fine but big water jumps are a complete no no, the beach here we come!!
